Abstract

The Theodosian dynasty afforded the women of the imperial family more visibility. Proof of this is that most of them were named Augustae. The first to receive this honour was Aelia Flaccilla, represented on the coins with a series of iconographic attributes taken from the imperial male representation to which her successors added the dextera dei.
