Media Make History. The series Medienakteure der Moderne is historically oriented. It does not treat media (print media, audiovisual and digital media) as a black box. Rather, it addresses their internal structures and processes as well as their content and effects on the basis of sources. For a modern media history, media are not (only) sources for researching other social subsystems, but possess actor qualities themselves: they act, have consequences, follow their own logic and interact with other institutions and systems. In this respect, the series opens up perspectives beyond media history.
