The overarching goal of the Series is to incorporate the history and culture of Roma into the mainstream of European and global academia. To achieve this goal, the series Roma History and Culture publishes books (monographs, edited volumes, and collections of historical sources) from wide range of disciplines – history, ethnography, anthropology, sociology, political science, religion, cultural studies, literature studies, film, and art history, with particular focus on comparative studies – that offer innovative, critical and, above all, reliable and fully documented insights into Roma history and culture that relies on documents, critical rereading and rethinking of historical sources and existing research. This approach marks a critical turn in the academic studies of Roma history and culture that in the past all too often were blighted by stereotypes and myths, especially the specious belief that there are not enough preserved written sources on the Roma past to allow for the emergence of Roma history as a field in its own right. The series thus, shifts and challenges prevailing academic narratives that Roma are nothing else but a detached, marginalised community and a passive object of different state governments’ policies by presenting, analysing and contextualising the agency of Roma as actors in their own right, with their own views and visions of the development for the Roma and their communities. In this way the volumes published in the Roma book series present and contribute to the incorporation of the Roma past and present into the mainstream of European and global historiography instead of confining Roma history and culture to some narrow ethnic box. Research work on the Roma from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe constitutes the very academic focus of the proposed Book Series, which aspires to also cover the past and cultures of other communities that have historically been known under the general label “Gypsies”, such as the Sinti, Manush, Kale, Romanichals, Irish and Scottish Travelers, etc.
Mit dieser Reihe wird ein Beitrag zur Entwicklung einer europäischen Geschichtsschreibung geleistet, denn die Revolutions- und Napoleonischen Kriege zwischen 1792 und 1815 prägten die europäische Geschichte so nachhaltig wie kein anderer bewaffneter Konflikt zwischen Dreißigjährigem Krieg und 1. Weltkrieg. Aufgrund ihrer weitreichenden Folgen für Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik spielten sie nicht nur in der zeitgenössischen Erfahrung, sondern auch im kollektiven Gedächtnis eine zentrale Rolle.
Die in der Reihe erscheinenden Studien untersuchen, wie die Kriegsjahre 1792 - 1815 in den beteiligten Nationen und Regionen erfahren und erinnert wurden, welche Faktoren das kommunikative Gedächtnis formten und was davon in das kulturelle Gedächtnis aufgenommen wurde.
Die in der Reihe erscheinenden Studien untersuchen, wie die Kriegsjahre 1792 - 1815 in den beteiligten Nationen und Regionen erfahren und erinnert wurden, welche Faktoren das kommunikative Gedächtnis formten und was davon in das kulturelle Gedächtnis aufgenommen wurde.
In der international ausgerichteten Reihe "Encounters between Judaism and Christianity" erscheinen wissenschaftliche Arbeiten zu Konstituierungs- und Differenzierungsprozessen jüdischer und christlicher Religion in Geschichte und Gegenwart. Die Einzelbände behandeln exegetisch-hermeneutische, historische, systematische, kulturwissenschaftliche und zeitgeschichtliche Aspekte des Themenfeldes in der Verantwortung der einzelnen Fachdisziplinen und zugleich in fächerübergreifender Perspektive. Ein besonderes Augenmerk der Studien gilt den religiösen und kulturellen Kontaktpunkten und Reibungsflächen zwischen Judentum und Christentum, deren wissenschaftliche Betrachtung dem gegenseitigen Verständnis nach einer langen Geschichte kirchlicher Judenfeindschaft neue Impulse zu geben vermag.
The internationally focused series Encounters between Judaism and Christianity publishes studies on the processes of formation and differentiation of Jewish and Christian religion past and present. SJC-volumes deal with exegetical-hermeneutical, historical, systematic, cultural-historical and contemporary issues according to the standards of the individual disciplines and from a cross-disciplinary perspective. Particular attention is paid to the areas both of cultural interaction and of friction between Judaism and Christianity. After a long history of ecclesiastical hostility against Jews and after the experiences of the 20th century the scholarly examination of these topics can provide new impulses for improving mutual understanding.

Die von Erik Ode und Michael Obermaier herausgegebene Reihe Pädagogische Diskurse vertritt die Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaften in ihrer ganzen disziplinären Breite und besteht sowohl aus Monografien als auch aus Sammelbänden. Im Zentrum stehen theoriegeleitete, methodologische sowie praxisorientierte Auseinandersetzungen mit pädagogischen Grundfragen und -problemen, mit den soziokulturellen Bedingungsgefügen von Betreuung, Erziehung und Bildung über die Lebensspanne sowie kritische Analysen ihrer institutionellen und außerinstitutionellen Orte und Praxen.
Salo W. Baron was considered the greatest Jewish historian of the twentieth century. He laid the ground work for how Jews perceive themselves and are perceived by others. The present series publishes new perspectives in the research on the Jewish experience of both distinguished and aspiring scholars who continue Salo Baron’s work. Contributions to the series focus on the relationship of Jews and non-Jews and perceptions and understandings of Judaism, including but not limited to the history, culture, religion, and institutions of the Jewish people, as well as on their persecution.
