Abstract

Media Constellation Analysis for Bildung. Contours of a Mediating Approach concerning the Boundary between Subject and Media

Theories on media and education (Bildung) have great potential for connections but also some differences when it comes to the conceptualization and relation of subject and media. The article suggests the media constellation analysis as an approach founded in media studies that takes (the poststrucuralist and media theoretic) idea of a ›positioned‹ and ›constituted‹ subject into account and at the same time allows for studying processes of Bildung focussing on actual persons, common in educational sciences.

The article argues, that Freuds theory of the death drive is more currently than generally accepted. The article deals especially with juvenile suicide murders in the middle east and asks, whether this phenomenon could happen as well in the center of Europe.

The Limits of Transformation relating to Sustainability. Pedagogical-Anthropological Perspectives in the Anthropocene

The global crisis has been emerging as an ecological and political, and more recently also as a pandemic one: It puts people into the difficulty of having to choose between competing images of humanity in their everyday actions. The refusal of the incorrigible to change their way of life towards increased sustainability raises the question of what future-oriented narratives can be developed for the necessary transformation of the status quo.

Digital Sympoiesis and Cultural Resilience. Alternative Perspectives on Digitalization in the Anthropocene

Digitalization plays an ambivalent role within profit-driven globalization processes and the worldwide commodification of cultural and material resources. From the perspective of the Anthropocene, however, it also comes into view as a space for new modes of relating and »worlding« (Haraway) that imply cultural resilience as a collective learning process. The digital game »Never Alone« (Kisima Ingitchuna) is discussed as an exemplary case of such learning.

Abstract

Limits of Competence. Man as a Capable Being – An Anthropological Perspective

The worldwide focus on ›competence‹, that we see in the social sciences, reduces the human relationship to the world to just one of several different possibilities. Viktor von Weizsäcker’s ›pathic categories‹ open up another perspective, but they also show the theoretical and anthropological consequences of abandoning the claim to subjective autonomy.
