COVID-19 and the Digitization of the School

It has long been discussed how schools should react to the ongoing process of digitization. While some have been enthusiastic about the opportunities provided by digital media, in education, others have remained skeptical. This essay explores how the experiences with remote teaching during the COVID-19-pandemic might impact the debate on the digitization of schools.

The Promise of Individualization: Digitized Education in Political Resolutions of the ›Kultusministerkonferenz‹

This article analyses argumentation patterns in the discourse on digitized education using the example of various publications of the ›Kultusministerkonferenz‹ from 2012-2020. In particular the promise of individualization and competence orientation are highlighted as leitmotifs of digitized education which need to be examined more closely from a pedagogical point of view.

Lockdown but not knocked down! Child and Youth Community Work during the Shutdown Period

The COVID-19 pandemic and related lockdown measures have an adverse impact on young people’s lives. We should state clearly that the younger generation experiences substantial effects on their healthy development related to reduced access to open spaces. One must not forget the widespread need among adolescents to socialize with peers and to use open spaces for leisure and recreation pursuits which play an important role during the adolescent phase of life. Currently, various professionals from the child and youth (community) work sector emphasize the problem of leaving young people behind in terms of taking measures to reduce social risks due to the pandemic crisis.

Construction Error in Child Protection? An Empirically Supported Interim Conclusion after 15 Years ›Insoweit erfahrene Fachkraft‹

Child protection – as a metaphor for a qualificatory, welfare state-owned, legal and specifically regional future network performance in socio-ecologically understood systems – is for the moment being a nebulous point with regard to the so-called ›Insoweit erfahrene Fachkraft‹ (insofar experienced specialists) in municipal child protection. Not only on the basis of the results of the explorative study presented here is the discussion encouraged whether the introduction of an ›Insoweit erfahrene Fachkraft‹ under § 8 SGB VIII appears to be (extremely) badly designed within municipal child protection, a bureaucratic and financial cul-de-sac, and that is why these results constitute some proflection aid for further research.

This article discusses the issue of recognizing educational concepts and ideas. However, some of the proposed answers are what cause the problems in the first place. A solution must take into account the disunion between science and practice, which may lead to bad reputation in both domains.
